Another Award For Raleigh North Carolina? My Trophy Case Is Getting Full!!!

Once again, Forbes Magazine has chosen Raleigh, North Carolina #1!!!

Raleigh, North Carolina

This time Raleigh was named the #1 city in the nation where Americans are relocating to. With our wonderful schools, top notch medical facilities, excellent universities and over 170 technology and research companies, not to mention the great weather we have here, it's no wonder people are coming this way.

Recently Raleigh, North Carolina's capitol city, was named #6 in the country's Healthiest Housing Markets for 2009.

It's yet another in a long line of awards that the Raleigh, Cary and Apex areas have won in the past few years.

Raleigh, along with neighboring Cary and Apex have been recognized by CNN, Money Magazine and Forbes on their annual lists of Best Places to Live. Click the links to see the awards!

Raleigh, the city of oaks

ESPN the Magazine has also recognized Raleigh! Raleigh and the Triangle area were voted #1 as The Best Place for a Sports Road Trip!

"North Carolina's famed Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) is the epicenter of the of the affordable sports universe. In one 15 day span last October, you could have seen six top-flight events for $133."

We're proud to be the home of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, a mecca for top ranked ACC College Basketball teams, the home city for the USA Baseball team, and just a short drive to NASCAR and NBA facilities.

Craig - As I've mentioned before, my folks live in Raleigh.  I lived there for two years.  I certainly can attest that it is a wonderful city to visit and live.

Hi Craig, I don't think I have ever been to Raleigh, I am surprised at that. But, sounds wonderful. Looks like a great place to live to me, and Forbes can't be wrong!

Love the nut... don't want to see the squirrel that belongs to though.

Craig, neat localism blog! I saw the acorn and it reminded me of all the flap about ACORN that is going around. But then, that is fodder for another post...

Dear Craig,

My advice is buy a bigger trophy case! Then you can work on filling that one up too!

Mary - I'm thinking half of America couldn't find Red Feather Lakes! That's why it's still so pristine. Shhh! Don't tell anyone about it!!!

Maureen - Thank you Maureen! It's just one more reason I love calling the Raleigh area home!

Toula - See my comment to Maureen above!!!

Melissa - Charleston has lots to brag about. Beautiful city, great seafood, an excellent mortgage maven....!!!

Jason - Next time you're in the area, give a call. We'll do some frosty adult beverages!!!

Andrea - Forbes is NEVER wrong! Come on down. We've got an open door policy!

Donna - Austin is definitely a wonderful city. I've not been there for some time now, but last I was, I had a great time!

Michael - Yes, the ACORN flap is for another post! But the Raleigh acorn is a symbol if its nickname, "The City of Oaks".

Kristin - But really Kristin, what city could ever compare to Milwaukee?!!!

Terrie - I do love living here! When you come to visit, you'll see why too!

Jim and Maria - Hey you guys, as I said to Melissa, the mortgage maven from your area, Charleston is a great city too!

Posted by Craig Rutman Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area Realtor (Helping people in transition) almost 3 years ago

Nevin - We don't even have to tell people. All they have to do is visit and they'll figure it out. Raleigh and its surrounding cities are great places to live, work, and play.

Debbie - And I look forward to your visit! Bring your camera so we can immortalize the area with some of your prize winning shots!

Gail - Thank you my friend! I hope that we get some more business as a result of not only this blog, but of the merits that the Raleigh area has to offer as well.

Sandy - Hmmmmm. I moved here 7 years ago. You left here 7 years ago......Was it something I said?!!!

Betina - With all the accolades this area keeps getting, I'm thinking your advice on getting a bigger trophy case is something I need to consider!

Craig, I've had more then a few clients finally leave Long Island with Raleigh being one of their considerations.  I haven't been there YET but hear it's beautiful (and MUCH less expensive!).

Posted by Laura Cerrano and Carole Provenzale Owner, Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Feng Shui Long Island & New York City/Feng Shui Manhattan ) almost 3 years ago

Hey, we're #3 Craig!  Ain't NC GRANDE!  Reading Carole's comment reminds me that we have an area of Charlotte that we call 'Little Long Island' because everyone that moves from LI seems drawn to this one particular area of Charlotte!  I know alot move to Raleigh too--obviously!

Kudos to Raleigh!  ;-)

Carole - When I made the move to the Raleigh area from Long Island a bunch of years ago, I immediately gave myself a $10,000 raise just by changing zip codes! Gas, housing, taxes and car insurance are all considerably less expensive here. Come on down! We've got an open door policy here!

Debe - To quote you Debe, "Ain't NC Grande!" We're fortunate to live in a place where we have all the amenities of a bigger city while still maintaining that small town charm. We have a town here called Cary which has been given the acronym "City of Affluent Retired Yankees" and the "Contained Area of Retired Yankees". That's not a bad thing. It's just all the people from the North who came here, as did I, for a less expensive, better way of life......and found it!
